Respite is an essential part of maintaining balance and wellness throughout your caregiver journey. In this course, we will discuss the types of respite, formal and informal respite resources, and how to customize respite to fit your needs.
3 Course Series
This new course covers What Is Respite, Exploring Respite Within Your Caregiving Journey, and Putting Together A Respite Plan. Respite–a short period of rest or release–is an essential part of maintaining balance and wellness throughout caregiving. The first lesson defines and identifies the use of different forms of respite, while the second lesson explores the benefits of respite for both caregivers and their loved ones. The final lesson offers resources and tools, including the use of the Caregiver Respite Tool to create a personalized plan. The course is narrated by personnel from the Veteran Administration’s General Caregiver Support Program and includes personal caregiving stories.
Caregiver Resources
VA Respite Tool
The VA recognizes the importance of you as a caregiver and as a partner in your Veteran’s care. This tool is created to help you incorporate respite into your life. Respite care allows you, as a caregiver, time away from your caregiving responsibilities. We understand finding time for yourself can be difficult and this tool is designed to help define who you are as a caregiver and take action steps to finding time for you. We know that finding time to complete an exercise like this may feel overwhelming, so take your time with this tool. Complete it over a few days or weeks.
VA Circle of Health Resource
The Circle of Health helps you explore connections between important aspects of your life and your health and well-being. Improving one area can benefit other areas and influence your overall physical, emotional, and mental health.
Conversations with Caregivers
Join us for an intimate conversation where we explore respite for caregivers and share information about the launch of our NEW Respite course series. This conversation aims to empower and equip you with the knowledge and resources needed to prioritize your own health and well-being and increase opportunities for joy throughout your caregiving journey. Designed specifically for caregivers, this conversation aims to provide valuable insights, strategies, and resources to harness the transformative potential of respite care.
