PsychArmor and Acadia Healthcare Partner to Train Healthcare Providers in Military Culture
SAN DIEGO (January 27, 2022) — PsychArmor and Acadia Healthcare, the largest stand-alone behavioral healthcare company in the United States, will join forces to create a more culturally competent workforce. By taking this step in enhancing training for its employees, Acadia is demonstrating its commitment to offering a more genuine connection and better support for those in the military community.
“We value our healthcare partners who are actively working to enhance healthcare competence through education and training. Cultural awareness training for providers assists in reducing or eliminating barriers to care,” said Dr. Tina Atherall, CEO of PsychArmor.
Many facilities within Acadia Healthcare’s extensive treatment network offer multiple levels of care for active-duty service members, veterans, and their families. Tailored programming is available for those who are struggling with addictions and suffering from mental health disorders.
Recognizing that the experiences of military personnel are much different from those of nonmilitary personnel, these programs structure their milieus to address things that are specific to this population while also ensuring the provision of evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
“Acadia is committed to caring for those who have served our nation, and our commitment just took another huge step forward,” said Acadia Healthcare Chief Medical Officer Michael V. Genovese, M.D., J.D. “We are thrilled to be partnering with PsychArmor as we further train our teams and cultivate a treatment environment that is geared toward better understanding and supporting those who have served. The advanced trainings and critical resources PsychArmor provides will help ensure that our programs are best prepared to effectively engage with and support military service members, veterans, and their families.”
This announcement comes during an exciting time of growth for PsychArmor as the service organization moves to a sustainable nonprofit business model and implements a new learning management system and website.
