New York State Division of Veterans’ Services and New York State Bar Association Team Up with PsychArmor to Advocate for Veteran Services and Access to Justice
The New York State Division of Veterans’ Services, New York State Bar Association (NYSBA ) and PsychArmor are teaming up to create an education program that enhances military cultural competency for lawyers working with New York Veterans and their families.
The partnership will provide New York State Bar Association members with free, 24/7 access to PsychArmor’s Veteran Ready Lawyer (VRL) education program. Lawyers who complete the training will more effectively work with and assist military service members, Veterans, and their families. Upon completion of the training, NYSBA lawyers will be issued a Veteran Ready Lawyer certificate and the right to display a digital badge signifying their specialized skill set.
“This partnership–NYS Div. of Veteran Services and NYSBA’s legal expertise with PsychArmor’s military culture expertise–will cultivate more equitable outcomes for Veterans in the justice system and enable the Department of Veteran Services and NYSBA to better meet the needs of military-affiliated clients,” says Dr. Tina Atherall, PsychArmor’s CEO. This is PsychArmor’s first partnership with a public legal system.
“As a Veteran myself, I applaud the New York State Bar Association for going the extra mile in attaining greater military cultural competency, and I commend PsychArmor Institute for generously building this ‘Veteran-Ready Lawyer’ curriculum and providing this crucial training free of charge to them,” says Joel Evans, Executive Deputy Director, New York State Division of Veterans’ Services. “This collaboration will lead to Veterans across New York State receiving better representation from the state’s legal community to address the full measure of their needs.”
