Lissa Thomson of Lockton Companies Named Chair of PsychArmor Board

Experienced Consultant Brings Over 40 Years of Leadership to New Role

 San Diego, CA - PsychArmor, a San Diego-based national nonprofit specializing in military cultural awareness and competency, is pleased to announce the appointment of Lissa Thomson as Chair of its Board of Directors. Current Board Member Umar Latif, MD, will assume the role of Vice Chair, succeeding Thomson.

PsychArmor is a San Diego-based national nonprofit and preferred training provider specializing in military cultural awareness and competency. Their team of clinical psychologists, veterans, military, and leaders in the private and public sector offer learning from continuing education to customized training, through a rich ecosystem--including online courses, curricula, podcasts, webinars, live speaking engagements, social media and more. Their focus on health equity for military-connected communities includes a robust portfolio of Veteran Ready training for healthcare professionals. 

Thomson brings more than four decades of expertise in health-plan risk management and leadership to her new role. As Chief Consultant at Lockton Companies, the largest independent, privately owned global risk management and consulting firm, Thomson leads strategic initiatives in human capital and health-plan strategies. She is a sought-after speaker and educator, having taught at the University of California, San Diego.

Dr. Latif, PsychArmor’s new Vice Chair, serves as Chief Medical Officer at Enterhealth, a comprehensive dual-diagnosis residential treatment program. With a decade of advocacy for Veteran communities, he previously co-founded Help for Heroes and served as its National Medical Director. Dr. Latif is also a Bush Stand-To Veteran Leader scholar and chairs The Headstrong Project’s Scientific Advisory Board.

 Thomson succeeds Steve Schwab, Board Chair Emeritus, who devoted 10 years of service to PsychArmor as its Board Chair. Schwab will remain on the Board, providing valuable institutional knowledge and support to Thomson, Dr. Latif, and the entire team.
