LISSA THOMSON

Lissa Thomson is a recognized expert and thought leader in the field of healthcare risk management. She has distinguished herself as an impressive management professional with more than 30 years experience serving in executive leadership roles at some of the world’s largest insurance brokerages and healthcare agencies including Marsh Inc., Johnson & Higgins, and Blue Cross.

Currently, she is senior vice president and chief consultant of Lockton Insurance Brokers, LLC, the Pacific Series of Lockton Companies. Lockton is the largest independent, privately owned, global insurance broker, that employers more than 5,600 professionals and serves 48,000 clients around the world with risk management, insurance, employee benefits consulting, and retirement services.

Since 2002, Ms. Thomson provided Lockton with strategic leadership in all areas of human capital and health risk management. She has served in an advisory role to Lockton benefits teams in analyzing complex benefits needs of clients, and formulating creative strategies to evolve their programs. She has established strategic initiatives and leveraged inter-practice resources throughout Lockton’s national practice to deliver best-of-breed services to clients. Since the onset of health reform, she has developed health reform modeling and consulting matrices and communications to clarify the exposures, trends, and issues impacting enterprise clients.

Ms. Thomson serves on a number of Lockton’s national and regional advisory committees including chair of the Strategic Initiative Group and member of the Group Plan Strategy and Private Exchange Practice Leadership committees. She also provides strategic leadership to several other for-profit and not-for-profit advisory committees including Brighter Inc., a technology solutions company serving the healthcare industry and PsychArmor.

Ms. Thomson is frequently invited to speak at industry conferences and events including Compensation and Benefits Association of San Diego (CBASD), National Human Resources Association (NHRA), and regional Risk Insurance Management Society (RIMS) Meetings, University Conference Services’ National Health and Welfare Plan Management Conference, and the FIrst Health National Conference. In addition, she teaches a course on benefits plan design, management, and finance at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).

Ms. Thomson is a graduate of Boston University with a degree in Mathematics Education. She is married and has two children: a wild-life ecologist and an active-duty Navy pilot.
