Lisa serves as the Director of Development, leveraging her people skills and professional experience to establish and manage relationships with corporate, individual, and foundation donors. As a self-described political geek, Lisa began her career as a legislative aide in the Texas Legislature, then continued as a lobbyist in Washington, DC. In 2000 while serving as Key Volunteer for her husband’s Marine Unit, Lisa discovered a passion for non-profit work, particularly when serving alongside and for military spouses and families. She continued to work through multiple deployments and duty stations, including a stint as the Program Development and Grants Manager for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). Most recently, she served as Donor Relations Manager for Semper Fi & America’s Fund, balancing time zone differences from a Hawaii duty station.A proud first-generation Cuban American, Lisa has been married for 22 years to an active-duty Marine currently stationed in San Diego. She has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Texas A&M University, and the legacy continues with her older son now attending Texas A&M as well (Gig-Em!). In her free time, she can be found attending Marine Corps ceremonies, keeping up with friends, chauffeuring her high-school-aged son around, and generally enjoying San Diego weather.
