Frequently Asked Questions

General

What is PsychArmor?

Our mission is to educate a nation by providing critical resources to Americans so they can effectively engage with and support military service members, Veterans, and their families.

How? We create data-driven and evidence-based online training videos delivered by nationally recognized subject matter experts who are fiercely committed to educating the civilian community about Veterans and military culture.

Because fewer than 7% of our country have served in uniform, most Americans are unfamiliar with military life and culture. A better understanding of military culture and the Veteran community can alleviate many of the challenges Veterans, service members, and their families face when returning from deployments or transitioning into civilian life.

PsychArmor is the only national institute that not only offers free online education, but also has a support center staffed with mental health experts.  PsychArmor coaching and support staff are dedicated to assisting military service members, Veterans, their loved ones, employers, healthcare providers, educators, and communities.

Our self-paced courses are geared towards a diverse array of audiences. We provide critical resources to all Americans who work with, live with, and care about military service members, Veterans, and their families.

What does PsychArmor do to help employers?

PsychArmor recognizes that employers want to hire Veterans who are in the job market and retain them once they are hired. PsychArmor’s Employer School courses provide invaluable information and resources on a variety of topics for those who employ Veterans. Our call center is ready to help employers find resources about hiring and retaining Veterans. We can also help employers find resources to better understand and create reasonable accommodations for wounded, ill, or injured Veteran employees.

Online Training

How do I register for a course?

Registering for a course is easy. Just click on "Sign In" at the top right corner of the page, or click “Start Learning” on the left-hand side of the course or bundle page (beneath the course description).

Which course should I take first?

We recommend starting with the course, “15 Things Veterans Want You to Know.” The course outlines five questions you can ask a Veteran, and the top 15 things Veterans want you to know about them. After completion of this course, we recommend exploring our Course Library to discover courses relevant to your role with Veterans and the military community.

How much do the courses cost?

All of PsychArmor’s courses are completely FREE. Thanks to the generosity of individuals, corporate sponsors, partners, and funders, we are able to provide training and support at zero cost to the individual learner.

What is the purpose of the Coaching & Support Center?

The Coaching & Support Center’s purpose is to provide informed support and local and national resources to Veterans, military service members, and their families, and those who live, work and support them. However, we are not a crisis line and we are not able to provide emergency services. For an emergency, please call the Department of Veterans Affairs’ 24/7 Veterans Crisis Line at 1-800-273-8255 (press “1”) or text 838255.
