About Today’s Guest
Travis retired from the US Coast Guard as a Commander, in April 2024, after completing assignment as the Director of Training at the Coast Guard's west coast training center in Petaluma, California. Travis spent the majority of his career in the Coast Guard's training and education system, as well as focused on marine casualty investigations, commercial vessel compliance, and security assistance overseas. He is currently a Knowledge Manager for Georgia Tech Research Institute.
Travis has several personal and professional awards. During his career, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, the Coast Guard Commendation Medal (6 awards, 3 with Operational Distinguishing Device), the Coast Guard Achievement Medal, and a Coast Guard Letter of Commendation. Also, he is the recipient of the 2023, CAPT Charles E. Swaringen, Jr. award for outstanding mentorship in Human Performance Technology.
Travis is the author of two books: SCALE, and Command Your Transition. Taking his own medicine, he is returning to school to earn a degree in Cybersecurity Risk and Strategy in 2025.
