Shaun Murphy
Shaun brings strategic insight, operational discipline, and governance expertise to PsychArmor’s Board of Directors. His experience guiding complex organizations and aligning diverse stakeholders helps strengthen the organization’s impact and support for the military-connected community.
With more than three decades of leadership experience, Mr. Murphy has built a reputation for guiding organizations through complexity, change, and sustained performance demands. His professional background reflects an uncommon blend of combat-tested military service, senior corporate leadership, and board-level governance experience. Across each of these settings, he has been trusted to bring structure to ambiguity, align diverse stakeholders, strengthen accountability, and turn strategic objectives into executable results.
Following a distinguished 32-year career in the United States Navy, Mr. Murphy transitioned into senior leadership roles at Wells Fargo, where he served as Vice President, Enterprise Risk Programs; Senior Vice President, Customer Remediation Operations; and Senior Vice President, Change Management. In those roles, he led major initiatives involving enterprise risk identification and measurement, governance redesign, regulatory and policy oversight, and large-scale customer remediation. His work helped strengthen risk discipline and operating consistency across major business lines, including remediation strategies affecting more than eight million customer accounts.
Mr. Murphy is also the founder of Murphy Business Solutions, LLC, through which he has advised organizations navigating growth, transition, and operational complexity. His advisory work has focused on business operations, contract management, governance support, and execution discipline—helping leaders improve visibility, centralize fragmented processes, strengthen compliance, and better align day- to-day operations with broader strategic goals.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors of PsychArmor and as Co-Chair of its Governance Committee. In that capacity, he is helping lead initiatives to strengthen board effectiveness, sharpen committee priorities, enhance leadership accountability, and improve the organization’s governance framework during a period of strategic and financial transition. His work has included advancing governance committee priorities, helping shape a more formal enterprise risk management approach, refining oversight structures, and supporting alignment between board governance, strategy, and long- term mission sustainability.
During his naval career, Captain Murphy served in command, operational, joint, and legislative assignments of increasing responsibility. He commanded three Navy Operational Support Centers and led a combined workforce of more than 2,100 personnel across 50 subordinate units, while overseeing operating budgets in excess of $35 million. Known for decisive leadership and organizational effectiveness, he consistently improved readiness, strengthened performance, and developed high-performing teams in demanding operating environments.
His senior military assignments also included service at U.S. Central Command and at the Pentagon, where he served as Director of the Navy’s Legislative Affairs Division for the Chief of Navy Reserve. In that role, he acted as a senior advisor and primary Congressional liaison, helping shape legislative strategy, support enterprise funding priorities, and advance major operating and procurement objectives. Earlier in his career, he qualified as a Naval Aviator and flew the P-3C, C-9B, and C-40 aircraft, accumulating more than 3,000 flight hours and completing 10 deployments in support of Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom, along with other global contingency missions. He also served as a Special Operations Terminal Attack Controller with SEAL Team Five in Iraq, supporting combat operations and providing tactical intelligence on more than 50 ground combat missions.
Mr. Murphy holds a Master of Business Administration in Program Management from Columbia Southern University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Colorado. He has also completed executive and professional education through the Navy War College, Naval Postgraduate School, Air Command and Staff College, and other advanced military leadership programs. His military awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal with Combat “V,” two Combat Action Ribbons, and numerous additional personal, unit, and campaign decorations.
Today, Shaun Murphy is recognized as a principled and steady leader who brings executive judgment, governance insight, operational discipline, and a strong service ethos to every organization he supports. He is particularly well suited for Board of Directors service, governance committee leadership, strategic advisory roles, and senior executive opportunities requiring sound judgment, credibility, and disciplined execution.
