Lissa Thomson is an accomplished Executive and Philanthropic Leader with more than 40 years of expertise in healthcare risk management, organizational strategy, and community impact. Her career includes senior leadership roles at some of the world’s most influential insurance and consulting organizations, including Mercer, Johnson & Higgins, and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Connecticut (now Anthem).
For over two decades, Lissa served as a national leader at Lockton Companies, the world’s largest independent, privately owned risk management and consulting firm. As Chief Consultant, she played a pivotal role in shaping Lockton’s strategic approach to human capital, health risk, and healthcare reform. Her work helped guide clients through complex regulatory environments, strengthen organizational resilience, and drive innovative solutions across industries. Her leadership continues to be recognized as a defining force in Lockton’s growth and national practice collaboration.
Today, Lissa brings that same strategic energy to her community and philanthropic leadership. She serves as Chair of the Board at PsychArmor, where she helps advance the organization’s mission to transform how communities engage with military and Veteran populations through education and training. Her governance expertise and deep commitment to service strengthen PsychArmor’s national impact.
Lissa is also a proud member of the San Diego 2029 Invictus Games Committee, contributing to the region’s effort to bring the Games to one of the nation’s largest and most vibrant MilVet communities. Her work supports a vision of honoring service members, veterans, and their families through world class competition and community engagement.
Her dedication to community wellbeing extends to her involvement in a California statewide initiative promoting mental health awareness in junior high and high schools, reflecting her longstanding commitment to youth resilience and access to support.
A sought after speaker and educator, Lissa has taught Benefits Plan Finance and Management at the University of California, San Diego, and continues to mentor emerging leaders in the field. She holds a degree in Mathematics Education from Boston University and remains a lifelong learner.
Lissa lives in San Diego, where she is currently learning to play the drums and refining her flower arranging skills. An avid traveler, she enjoys exploring new destinations and spending time with her family. She is a proud mother and grandmother, and cherishes time with her husband and two children—a wildlife ecologist and an active duty Navy pilot.
