Soul Injury and Healing for Veterans at the End of Life

Start: April 7, 2026 10:00 AM
End: April 7, 2026 11:00 AM

Zoom Live Session

As Veterans approach the end of life, experiences of service, loss, moral conflict, and identity often resurface. Many carry what has been described as moral injury or soul wounds—deep, unspoken responses to the realities of war and service that may persist for decades. Understanding these experiences is essential for anyone walking alongside Veterans in hospice, palliative care, or family caregiving roles.

Join PsychArmor for a Community of Practice conversation with Dr. Qwynn Galloway-Salazar, Deborah Grassman, and Angie Snyder of Opus Peace, nationally recognized leaders in Veteran-centered end-of-life care. Together, they will explore how military service shapes both the dying process and caregiving experiences, offering insight into the emotional, spiritual, and moral challenges Veterans and their families may face. Participants will reflect on how soul wounds manifest and persist, learn approaches to creating safe and trusting spaces for dialogue and healing, and consider the profound “Warrior Wisdom” that emerges from a lifetime of service and resilience.

As Deborah Grassman reminds us, “If anyone wants to learn how to achieve inner peace, ask a Veteran who has successfully struggled to find it for the rest of their lives after they returned from war.” This session offers an intentional space to pause, reflect, and learn together, providing practical guidance and compassionate understanding for those dedicated to supporting Veterans and their families through one of life’s most sacred transitions.
