LCSW; Rapid Response Referral Program Director, IAVA
As a licensed clinical social worker, Kim Ahearn Young is responsible for directing IAVA’s Rapid Response Referral program (RRRP). She earned her Master Degree in Social Work from New York University in 1998 and has worked in the field of trauma throughout her career since then, in settings ranging from community-based mental health agencies, to the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, and the Red Cross’ September 11 Recover Program. Prior to joining IAVA, Kim worked at the FDNY for 11 years, creating programs to support families who lost FDNY loved ones on 9/11, supervising staff, and providing clinical treatment of FDNY members struggling with PTSD, bereavement, and a host of other issues attributable to 9/11. Kim is also a psychotherapist in private practice.
