I found this helpful as I’m from a different Navy. The history, change and reorganisation seen in the DoD is similar, but the names and appointments very alot. Thank you for the short and informative summary.

Of particular note for me was the reducing size of the force but complexity of operations. Doing more with less. This gives the newer veteran different challenges. Constant stimulation and bombardment with information and technology. A near instant and globally reaching communications network means the reprots, returns, orders, and changes to orders are constant… no longer do we get the respite of waiting until the next mail bag arrives which could be days, weeks, months (at sea). It all adds up, all gives us a higher level of background stress and could be what adds up over years and years; leaving less reserve resilance and have us closer to our tipping point.
