Pain as a Gatekeeper for Combat Trauma

Pain as a Gatekeeper for Combat Trauma is designed for medical and mental healthcare professionals. Narrated by Navy combat Veteran and clinical psychologist, Dr. Heidi Kraft, this course provides information explaining the current understanding of physical and invisible wounds in today’s combat Veterans. Through storytelling, Dr. Kraft describes unique combat experiences that can lead to emotional suffering and explains how that can relate to physical pain in Veteran patients, as well as how providers who treat physical pain can be gatekeepers for PTSD in combat Veterans. The goal of this course is to provide clinical insight about pain, trauma, and rehabilitation in today’s Veterans, in addition to demonstrating the importance of the role healthcare providers can play in their recovery.

Loved this, it deals with the abstract of living through a transition. It also touches on, somewhat directly, the complexity of living singularly with others.

Extremely well communicated. This is exceptional even for those that are not professional care givers.

Thank you Doc! I take care of combat veterans everyday and what you shared is profoundly real and true. This is the deep moral injury that many of our combat veterans know and feel.
