Executive Director & Founder, Warrior Canine Connection; LSW
Rick Yount, M.S, LSW, is the founder and Executive Director of Warrior Canine Connection (WCC). Rick has combined 28 years of social work experience with service dog training skills and knowledge to develop the therapeutic service dog training program, a new model of intervention to help Service Members with PTSD and TBI. The program that Rick created engages Service Members with PTSD in the training of service dogs for fellow Veterans with mobility impairments. The program was designed to address the core symptoms of combat related PTSD. Since first implementing this program in July of 2008 at the Palo Alto, CA Veterans Health Care Center’s Trauma Recovery Program, Rick has worked with hundreds of Veterans and Active Duty Service Members receiving inpatient and outpatient treatment for PTSD. In addition to the Palo Alto VA, the program is now offered at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Ft. Belvoir and a NeuroRestorative in Germantown, MD.
