Laura Torres joined BSF in the Fall of 2016 and currently supports our mission as the Blue Star Families Careers Trainer for the San Diego Area. She supports local Southern California Military Spouse career initiatives and program growth. Additionally, Laura facilitates training and development for new career manager consultants and ensures the careers program is reaching its full potential in all areas Blue Star Families has reach.
Laura has a strong background in recruiting, business development, workforce training and development, program outreach, and networking. She obtained her BA in liberal studies with a concentration in Early Childhood Education from EOU. Currently, she is pursuing her MBA with a concentration in Human Resource Management.
Laura’s career challenges have not been much different from the community she supports; Military Spouses. That’s why Laura’s community involvement and passion to support other spouses as a career manager is a great fit for her. After relocating to California in 2009 and unable to find satisfying work, Laura had to re-trained in a new career in order to advance.
As a Military Caregiver, she now enjoys life in SoCal with her Retired Veteran husband who served in the Marine Corp for 21 years. She has 4 beautiful grown children, enjoys San Diego life. When time allows it, she volunteers for other SVOs and supports local civilian organizations.
