Caregiver to husband Stephen, USMC Veteran

Danielle was a spouse and caregiver for seven years to her husband, Stephen, a Marine Corps Veteran who served from 1990-1999. They have four children between them, ages 18, 13, 9, and 4. The oldest has just become a United States Marine, following in his Dad’s footsteps and they couldn’t be more proud.

Danielle is currently serving on the Veteran and Family Advisory Board for the Portland, Oregon VA Medical Center. The board works directly with the Veteran Experience Officers and Hospital Director to better the experience of both the Veteran and the family members. Board members speak at New Employee Orientations as well, as the voice of the Veteran and the voice of the family.

Danielle and her family are volunteers with Project Sanctuary at their therapeutic family retreats and with The Mission Continues. Danielle is an active member of the Junior League of Portland, where the focus is on bettering the lives of women and girls in their community.

Danielle is currently a student, working towards a bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies and ultimately a master’s in Social Work. She is passionate about advocating for underserved communities and creating awareness around the struggles that affect the entire Veteran family.
