Tom Tice is a former Marine now leading the Starbucks Military Talent Acquisition. Tom retired from the Marines Corps after over 20 years of service with the rank of Master Sergeant.

Prior to his current billet that he has held since 2013 he was selected for a time limited assignment as the partner (human) resource manager at the Kent Flexible Plant. Prior to that, Tom was a manufacturing recruiter for Starbucks’ five roasting plants, two distribution centers and one juicery.

Tom is a native of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps right out of high school. He graduated Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina in 1988 and attended the School of Infantry at Camp Geiger, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he graduated as the honor graduate.

 

He served as heavy machine gunner for 1st Battalion, 7th Marines from 1989 until 1993 with multiple deployments to include Operations DESERT SHIELD/STORM and RESTORE HOPE. After his tour in the infantry he attended Marine Security Guard School in Quantico, Virginia and served at the United States Embassies in N’Djamena, Chad and La Paz, Bolivia until 1996. Upon his departure he was meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant and attended Supply and Accounting Course in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

 

Tom was assigned to Headquarters Marine Corps, Henderson Hall, Virginia as the Supply Administrations and Operations Supply Chief from 1996 until 2000. He then attended recruiters school in San Diego, CA and was transfer and served from 2000 to 2007, as a Recruiter, Recruiter NCOIC (manager), and Supply Chief for Recruiting Station Seattle. In February of 2007 Tom was promoted to Master Sergeant and assigned his last billet as the Inspector General Chief of Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in 29 Palms, California, where he retired in 2009.

 

As the recruiting manager, Tom leads a team that helps transitioning service members and hiring managers identify career opportunities using transferable skills and candidate passions to navigate today’s ever changing work place. Tom represents Starbucks on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Hiring Our Heroes Foundation Veteran Employment Advisory Council and the Military Spouse Employment Advisory Council, as well as Board Member of Hiring American’s Heroes and JP Morgan Chase Veteran Job Mission.
