Take the Challenge - Go #BeyondtheSticker
SAN DIEGO – With Veterans Day upon us, Americans across the country are asking what they can do to support our country’s more than 22.6 million veterans. The national non-profit, PsychArmor Institute (PAI) has the answer and this Veterans Day is launching a national campaign challenging all Americans to gain a deeper understanding of veterans and go beyond the bumper sticker.
With more than 100 online courses available free, on an anytime, anywhere basis at www.psycharmor.org, this Veterans Day PAI encourages all Americans to take just one course – “15 Things Veterans Want You to Know.” This 45 minute course provides foundational information regarding military culture and strives to bridge the divide between America’s civilian and veteran populations.
Under the direction of PAI Clinical Director and U.S. Navy and Iraq War Veteran, Dr. Heidi Kraft, Americans will learn the one question to ask a veteran to open a conversation and the 15 things veterans from across the nation told PAI they wanted the American public to know.
“Veterans deserve our support, they deserve our respect but more than anything, they deserve our understanding,” said PAI CEO and founder, Marjorie Morrison.
Both a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Licensed Professional Marriage and Family Therapist, Morrison founded PAI after spending a year writing and implementing a revolutionary proactive counseling program at Marine Corps Recruit Training Depot San Diego. After putting more than 500 drill instructors through the program, her study continued at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. She used the research to create a groundbreaking approach to military mental health care.
In addition to taking the course, PAI is asking all Americans to film a short video of themselves telling us why they think veterans deserve our understanding, post it to their favorite social media channel using the hashtag #beyondthesticker, tag PsychArmor Institute and challenge five of their friends to take this important course at http://www.psycharmor.org/beyondthesticker.
This Veterans Day, it’s time for America’s veterans to hear loud and clear why they deserve our understanding and for America’s civilization population to move beyond the bumper sticker.
